How to Measure Size in m2

It is simple to calculate the square metre size of an area.

When measuring rectangular shaped areas. Just multiply the length by the width in metres and you have the answer.

When measuring more complex shapes it is best to divide them into separate rectangles and then add them together to get a total area.

  • Q: What type of grout cleaner is used?
  • A: Tile Cleaners ® uses a low pressure / hot water system to clean your grout. The vapor system will heat water to high degrees (up to 320 degrees) cleaning your grout with vapor technology using tap water leaving your grout in a PH neutral state.
  • Q: Do you use chemical cleaners?
  • A: Some cleaning situations require pre-treatment using a chemical cleaner. Our chemical cleaner contains no acid or bleach as these ingredients can do long term damage to your grout. The solution is then followed by our vapor technology removing the discoloration and any chemical residue from the grout joint. However in some cases we will need to use chemicals that do contain some little amount of bleach or acid when the grout is old and discolored.
  • Q: Why use grout cleaner and vapor cleaning?
  • A: The vapor cleaning process eliminates the cleaner from the pores of the joint leaving it in a PH neutral state.
  • Q: Why not just scrub the grout with a brush and mop it clean?
  • A: The mopping of excess cleaner is not completely absorbed leaving the cleaner in the pores of the grout. The cleaner will disrupt the PH level of the floor creating a dirt magnet after completion.
  • Q: Do you use a truck mounted cleaning machine?
  • A: Sometimes, depending on the size and nature of the work required. The truck mounted equipment generates pressure between 1500 – 3000 psi so we adjust the pressure depending on the type of tile and grout you have, otherwise the amount of pressure generated will create small cracks in the joint along with exploiting existing cracks if the wrong pressure is used.
  • Q: What is grout recoloring?
  • A: Recoloring grout is the application of a grout colorant to completely change or enhance the color of your grout.
  • Q: Why recolor my grout?
  • A: In some circumstances, your existing grout can be soiled to the point it will not clean well enough to be acceptable. Grout can also fade if exposed to excessive foot traffic or sunlight making it impossible to eliminate color variations in your grout.
  • Q: Can grout recoloring make my grout lighter?
  • A: Yes, your existing grout can be re-colored to a lighter or darker shade of your existing grout or a different color altogether to match your changing decor.
  • Q: Can you tell if the grout has been recolored?
  • A: The recoloring process will leave your grout looking brand new eliminating any color variations. The color sealer used is a penetrating color sealer leaving the grout in its natural state as it bonds to the silica in the grout joint. Some color sealers on the market are a topical that will cause your grout to look painted in its completed state.

Grout Sealing FAQ's

  • Q: What is a grout sealer?
  • A: Grout sealers are a type of barrier that creates a protective layer between the grout porous lines and the stains trying to sink into them. Sealers are engineered to help protect porous surfaces from staining and help to make it easier for you to clean them. They provide an anti-staining solution for all types of grouts in any sort of tiled areas and they are your best choice to keep your grout lines looking new and fresh.
  • Q: Why do I need to seal my grout?
  • A: Grout is a porous material that needs a protective layer that will seal it from staining. Stains from foods, oils and all sort of dirt that comes in touch with the grout can penetrate the surface and sink in deeper into the grout, resulting in a discoloured and unpleasant looking grout. Sealers are engineered to lay a protective layer that will repel and obstruct the grout from absorbing any type of material that will penetrate it. It will keep your grout protected and your grout will be easier to clean and maintain. It will extend the fresh look of your grout lines and help keep that new look to your tiles as well.
  • Q: What Sealer do you recommend to use on my grout?
  • A: Tile Cleaners ® recommend using our high quality, water based, Impregnating Penetrating Sealer. This Sealer is your best choice for sealing your grout lines to keep them protected and looking new.
  • Q: Does the sealer change the appearance of the grout?
  • A: No it does not. Tile Cleaners ® Impregnating Penetrating Sealer will not change or alter the texture of you grout, nor give it a glossy finish. It will only protect and preserve your grout lines with no compromise.
  • Q: What process can I expect when you come to seal the grout?
  • A: Tile Cleaners ® professional team will go through the job processes step by step so you know exactly what your getting. The process of stripping the floor is to ensure that all of the old sealer is removed. Once the old sealer is stripped, the floor is then thoroughly cleaned and neutralised so that it is free of dust, residue and anything else of that sort that can affect the new sealer. The new sealer is then applied to the dry grout lines and allowed to set. The newly sealed grout will not only look as new again, it will also protect the grout surface for longer and make it much easier to clean.
  • Q: How long does the grout sealer last for?
  • A: The sealer it self will last for 10 years, it will stay and protect that grout for that period of time, however, if the grout is scraped or if it has been under any mechanical work that might scrape the top layer of the grout, it will scrape the layer of the sealer with it. We cannot guarantee that the sealer will be on top of the grout for 10 years, as the grout itself can corrode. Tile Cleaners ® recommend sealing your grout lines every 36 - 72 months to keep them protected and to eliminate the need to regrout.
  • Q: Are there different types of sealer for grout?
  • A: There are many types of grout sealer available in the market, however Tile Cleaners ® only use the highest quality water based impregnating penetrating transparent sealer when sealing grout lines.
  • Q: If I want to seal the grout, will it be done on the same day or you will wait for the tiles to be completely dry first and do it on another day?
  • A: Sealing should be done straight after the cleaning is complete and yes it should be done in the same day, otherwise it has to be cleaned again before sealing, as once you seal over dirt, you can never get the dirt out. However after sealing, you should allow 24 hours for the sealer to fully cure before allowing any water or liquid to be spilled on it. However, you can dry touch it 4 hours after the process is done.
  • Q: Will sealing the grout in the shower stop mould developing?
  • A: Sealing your grout with Tile Cleaners ® will help protect the grout and also make it easier to clean. The high humidity environment in the shower is the perfect place for mould to grow and spread, therefore, the sealer cannot prevent mould from growing but it will indeed help protect the grout and make it easier to clean there after. Some of the best techniques that will help prolong the life of the grout is to seal the new grout with our Impregnating Penetrating Sealer, keep the area dry and well ventilated and avoid using harsh cleaning chemicals.
  • Q: My grouts look corroded and it is cracked in some areas, what should I do, and can it be sealed in that condition?
  • A: Tile Cleaners ® only seal grouts that are in a good condition, grout that is cracking and deteriorating has to be regrouted before getting sealed. Please refer to the regrouting section.
  • Q: How long does it take to dry?
  • A: It will normally take 24 hours for the sealer to fully cure in a normal day , and that is fully settled when you can put back everything back into place. It takes 4 hours to touch dry that is nothing hard can be moved on the tiles and grout, as it needs at least 24 hours to fully cure.

  • A: Cleaning is the process of cleaning the grout with our machines, to ensure the absence of dirt and dust, therefore when we apply the sealer, the grout is clean and there are no barrier layers between the sealer and the grout. The sealer then will be applied, with the help of various Tile Cleaners tools, depending on the condition and setting of your tiles. Regrouting on the other hand is the process of replacing the grout between your tiles, with new grout. Tile Cleaners ® use a mechanical tool to scrub out the old grout. After that is done, then we proceed with cleaning and then reapplying new grout between the tiles. These are two different processes and you might need to clean and seal after you are done with regrouting your tiles.
  • Q: What type of tiles can we regrout?
  • A: Tile Cleaners ® can help you regrout most types of tiles.
